Griz Assistant Coach Stunned, Reflective [AUDIO]
Once they called him Lurch, the gentle giant Scott Gragg who thrilled crowds with his ‘thunder roll’. Now, the young Grizzlies call him ‘Coach’. I spoke with Coach Gragg Thursday evening after a tumultuous day, an emotional roller coaster in which his friend and mentor Robin Pflugrad was released as head coach of the Grizzlies. That interview is attached.
Gragg says a team meeting Thursday was more like a memorial service, as former head coach Pflugrad looked back at the times together with the team he had been successfully building for the past two and a half years. Now, the administration will not only have to name an interim head football coach, but an interim Director of Athletics, as Jim O’Day was also released. No reasons were given…and reports say that President Engstrom took the responsibility of the releases on his shoulders alone. Click below for my interview with Scott Gragg.
