The year was another strong one for tourism in Montana. That's according to 2014 numbers gathered by the Institute for Tourism and Recreation at the University of Montana, who shared some of their data with us on Wednesday. Nearly 11 million nonresidents visited Montana and spent more than $3.9 billion in the state in 2014. And while the number of individuals may have dropped slightly below 2013 levels, the number of travel groups increased. And spending by nonresidents grew by 4 percent in the first quarter of the year, 20 percent in second quarter and 9 percent in the third. So well done, visitmt.com for being a big part of the push. Terrific website if you need a starting place for yourself or out-of-state friends and family.
