Ever wonder how up-to-date Google Maps is? A major artery in Delaware vanished from the service just hours after it was closed Monday night.

A bridge on Interstate 495 in Wilmington has been found to be structurally unsound, and so transportation officials had no choice but to close the road for a mile and a half between exits 2 and 3. And just like that, the 1.5-mile section of road disappeared from Google Maps.

The closure was brought on when a bridge over the Christina River began twisting, leaving one direction of traffic 18 inches below the other. 90,000 vehicles use the span of road every day, and its closure is causing major traffic headaches on neighboring I-95, I-295 and Delaware state highway 9. Engineers are working now to figure out how to stabilize the bridge.
