Did you know there's a Guinness record for most fish caught in a 24-hour period? Well, it is the Guinness Book of World Records, so I guess that shouldn't come as a surprise. It's 2,649. And a guy who runs a Chicago fishing school is going to try to break it. Johnny Wilkins will fish from 7:00 a.m. July 5th till 7:00 a.m. July 6th at a public park pond in Lake View Nature Center, Oak Brook, Ill. And this is with a single pole. Maybe you've already done the math in your head. That would be an average of nearly two fish per minute! He wants to show that there are fabulous fisheries right there in the heart of a major metropolitan area. But there's good that's much greater than the glory. Johnny is taking pledges for his fish-a-thon, with proceeds benefiting Ronald McDonald House and the Wounded Warriors project. So best of luck, man. Hope you raise lots of money even if you don't break the record. And I'll go out and try to break my personal record for most fish caught in 24 hours, which I think is about five.  DB
