Missoula Police are investigating after a passenger car hit a young girl on Reserve Street Monday afternoon at around 4:30. Police Public Information Officer Travis Welsh explains.

"Officers were called to the report of a collision in the 4800 block of North Reserve Street between a vehicle and a pedestrian. When officers arrived along with EMS and fire, they learned that the pedestrian was actually a juvenile female below the age of 15 who had suffered significant, but not life-threatening injuries, however, she was transported immediately to the hospital."

The driver has been identified, but no charges had been filed as of Tuesday afternoon.

"The driver of the vehicle that struck her was identified and he remained on scene and he is participating in the investigation. An investigation is ongoing as to the cause of the crash."

Welsh says the girl was using a crosswalk at the time of the collision.
