The iconic George Strait is in the midst of a renaissance after the release of his most recent record Cold Beer Conversation and the announcement he will be taking the stage again next year at the Las Vegas Arena, prompting fans to show up in a big way. The six shows slated for 2016, — dubbed the 'Strait to Vegas' run — all sold out immediately when they went on sale on Oct. 2.

The impressive fan response has prompted Strait to add more dates to the residency, though the additions have yet to be announced. Currently, the tour includes shows April 22-23, Sept. 9-10 and Dec. 2-3, all with Kacey Musgraves as the supporting act.

Strait's new album Cold Beer Conversation is now available on Apple Music and exclusively in stores at Walmart. The 13-track record focuses on what’s really important in life, primarily relationships, which Strait muses about in a new commercial for the album’s Walmart release. The clip features Strait interacting with his son and grandson, and generally enjoying life in the slow lane.

For the release, Strait embraced some new features in the industry, though, including a partnership with Internet radio site Pandora developing a unique Strait to Vegas Mixtape playlist for fans to stream. He also launched a popup merch shop in downtown Nashville the day of the record’s release, Sept. 25. Strait began his career more than 30 years ago, and though he’s officially retired from touring, it’s safe to say he’s not slowing down any time soon.
