If you’re throwing together a barbecue, or planning a party for this Fourth of July, then you’re probably searching for a few easy and festive foods. Of course these foods must be red, white and blue as these are the official colors of Independence Day. To help make your party planning a little easier, I’ve compiled a list of four easy to make Fourth of July foods.

  • Red, white and blue Rice Krispy treats

Make Rice Krispy treats how you normally would, except this time divide the treats into thirds while they are still warm. Add a few drops of blue coloring to one-third and red food coloring to another third and then stir them until the color is mixed in. Now lay down the treats in layers in your pan. When you cut your treats to put on a plate, they will be patriotic red, white and blue.

  • Fourth of July kabobs

Take your favorite red, white and blue fruit and skewer them to make festive Fourth of July fruit kabobs. Fruit suggestions are bananas, strawberries, blueberries, pineapples, apples, huckleberries and cherries.

  • Independence Day cupcakes

Bake your favorite boxed white or red velvet cupcakes. Frost your cupcakes with white, red or blue frosting, using food coloring to color your frosting if necessary. Top your cupcake with the missing color. You can garnish your cupcakes with sprinkles, fruits, toys… you name it. Just have fun.

  • Firework cookies

Use your favorite sugar cookie recipe or buy premade sugar cookie dough. Mix red, white and blue sprinkles into your cookie dough, and then bake your cookies as directed. You will end up with a cookie that looks like a firework.
