Former Frenchtown Football Player Honored
The Griz weren’t the only team handing out awards recently. Montana football coach Rob Ash also announced team awards from the 2010 season. MSU Running back Cody Kirk of Frenchtown and linebacker Jody Owens of Mesquite, Texas, share the award for mental and physical toughness while wide receiver Elvis Akpla of Portland, Ore., received the Cliff Hysell award for courage.
Wide receiver Tanner Bleskin of Great Falls was honored for academic excellence, offensive guard Conrad Burbank of Reno, Nev., was named the most improved offensive player and cornerback James Andrews of Rockwall, Texas was named most improved defensive player.
The Montana State football team has named its captains for the 2011 season, including sophomore quarterback DeNarius McGhee of Euless, Texas.
McGhee is the first sophomore on record to be voted a team captain. The other captains are linebacker Clay Bignell of Helena and center Alex Terrien of Auburn, Wash.
