It amazes me sometimes how a matter of principle, common sense and tact can all get so muddled. The Associated Press reported today that a Portland, Ore. middle school football coach has lost his job rather than backing down from making plans for a team party at Hooters. The school sent a letter to parents letting them know the end-of-season awards party at Hooters was not a school event. And the school's athletic director fired the coach for refusing to choose a more appropriate location. The coach said he would not be pressured to move the party, because he always told his boys to stand up for what they believe in. And he says he believes Hooters is appropriate for families.

The young boys who attended the party haven't blinked in two days.  DB
