Ravalli County Sheriff Steve Holton has ordered Evacuations for residents on Lapwai Lane, Fox Lane and Bear Hollow Court on Nez Perce Road, due to the Nelson Creek Fire.

The lightning-caused forest fire up the West Fork of the Bitterroot was 50 acres as of Monday, according the Bitterroot National Forest officials. Late Monday night, Ravalli County Sheriff Steve Holton issued Stage 1 Evacuation Warnings to residents along Nez Perce Road to its intersection with West Fork road.

Holton, in a sheriff's office notification alert, said the fire was about a mile from the nearest structure and was "backing down" into the Nelson Creek drainage.

The warning area includes Fox Lane, West Fox Lane, Lapwai and West Lapwai Lanes, and Bear Hollow Court. Those in the area should be ready to move out at a moment's notice.

There are at least 30 firefighters and several engines on the fireline in the south end of Ravalli County. Air attacks are also scheduled.

Air quality in Hamilton was "Unhealthy" early Tuesday morning.
