Hamilton is getting a jump on Earth Day, which is Sunday April 22. Saturday, April 21, the annual day is being celebrated with three events in Hamilton. BEAR kids co-op starts things off with a park cleanup at Kiwanis Park on south 9th Street. Kids and families are invited to help make the park clean and beautiful. Meet at the gazebo just below the park entrance at 9:30 a.m. Trash bags and gloves will be provided. The cleanup should only take about an hour and then the next event starts up a few blocks away.

At 11 a.m., a number of non-profit groups will be gathering at the Ravalli County Museum lawn on South 3rd Street to display their ecological projects and celebrate Earth Day. Also, the Ravalli County Museum weekly kids activities theme is "Recycled Tin Can Craft," also starting at 11 a.m. You can make functional items or tin flowers and perhaps enter them in the recycled art show at this year's Bitter Root Day at the Museum June 9th. And, after that event, some of the staff of the museum and other volunteers will be picking up litter along the US 93 bike path and the Bitterroot River at Veteran's Bridge on the north edge of Hamilton. The public is encouraged to come to some or all of the activities.
