Well, do you NaNoWriMo? I haven’t before, but I’ve decided I’m going to this year. In case you were wondering, NaNoWriMo stands for National Novel Writing Month. Coincidentally, November is that month. The goal of NaNoWriMo is to help you write a novel in a month. Here are the rules.

First you can go to the NaNoWriMo website and get signed up. Then you can begin to write. Your goal is to write a 50,000 word novel by midnight on November 30. When you’re done, you can upload your novel to the website and you will receive a winner’s certificate and web badge.

This all sounds very simple, but I’m pretty sure writing 50,000 words in one month is not so easy, especially if you want those 50,000 words to come together in a story that makes some sort of sense. Really, that’s only about 1,667 words a day, give or take a few words. Totally doable. Right? I guess I will find out.

I’ve heard from others who have attempted this that it is very difficult, but totally worth it. The 50,000 word goal is attainable as long as you don’t get behind. If you can find the time to write the 1,667 words a day, then you will be able to finish. There is just one little problem that they’ve found. It’s called life. Yes, life seems to get in the way, and before you know it, you’re a few days and a few thousand words behind.

Well, I’m going to do my best and try to finish this year. Even if I don’t finish, I will be farther along on my novel then I was on October 31.
