Bitterroot Valley publisher and author Dale Burk of Stevensville is one of 16 people to be inducted into the Montana 2018 Outdoor Hall of Fame. The hall of fame committee selected the inductees from 39 candidates in the third year of the honors program. Bruce Whittenberg, director of the Montana Historical Society, said the Outdoor Hall of Fame was created to honor people who've made lasting contributions to the restoration and conservation of Montana's wildlife and wild places. Burk is a former newspaper reporter and is a successful publisher in Stevensville, specializing in local authors' projects in history, outdoors and travel. Recently, Dale published a book of memoirs called, "A Brush with A Wild Thing or Two in Montana." He has been a strong supporter of wildlife issues in the state and the region.

The others on the list include familiar names - Jack Ward Thomas, Phil Tawney and Robin Tawney-Nichols, Smoke Elser, Arnold and Helen Bolle and George Grant.
