Missoula Rural Fire and other agencies responded on Tuesday afternoon to Roseburg Lumber Products on Razer drive for two separate fires.

Upon arrival at about 1 pm, heavy smoke and flames were showing from a pre-dry building. The majority of the fire was confined to the duct work system. After knocking the fire down, Chief Bill Colwell said a second fire broke out about 3 pm..

"The second fire was an ember that apparently lofted in the sky above the mill and then settled on the north side of the mill and got into one of the walls inside of the area where they store the material that they actually build the pressboard out of," Colwell said.

Colwell said several agencies responded to the fires, including Frenchtown Fire and Missoula Emergency Services. .

"Missoula Rural Fire responded with two type-one engines and a truck, and Missoula City Fire with a type-one engine," he said. "Then we had a battalion chief and an assistant chief in the command roles."

Colwell said no firefighters or Roseburg employees were injured while fighting the blazes.
