A fire at Hellgate Forge, part of the old Bonner Mill, was reported just after noon on Monday, and Missoula Rural Fire responded.

Deputy Chief Chris Newman said there were flames and smoke visible when crews arrived on scene.

"Four engines responded along with a Battalion Chief, and upon arrival they did find fire and smoke coming from the building," Newman said. "Quick work by crews knocked the fire down when they arrived on scene. There were no injuries to either civilians or firefighters."

Newman said the investigation into the fire is just getting started, and fire inspectors were still on the scene as of late Monday afternoon.

Newman said Missoula Rural Fire was assisted by crews from Missoula City Fire and an ambulance from Missoula Emergency Services, though no injuries were reported. He said no estimates of damage were available.
