Missoula city fire crews responded to a structure fire early Thursday morning at the Wildflower apartment complex on 34th street where a garage had caught fire.

Battalion Chief Chad Nicholson says heat from the fire was so intense that vinyl siding was melting from the garage onto an adjoining housing unit. Nicholson says firefighters were able to knock down the flames and keep the fire from spreading into adjoining apartment buildings.

Nicholson says firemen wrapped up their work by about 4 am..and investigators are still attempting to determine the cause of the fire. No one was injured. Damage was estimated at over $30,000.
