Nothing wraps up a hot fair week like a little metal on metal carnage. The smell of coolant and burning oil filled the air Sunday afternoon as the cars lined up for a battle to the death. The event was sponsored by the Townsquare Media family, and myself, as well as "Tallest DJ" Aaron Traylor, were honored to be your announcers yet again this year. The internet has been having a lot of fun with the Mars Curiosity Rover landing. There were a whole bunch of memes. And, of course, there’s mohawk guy Bobak Ferdowsi, who’s successfully bridged the gap between geek and punk.
But the real fun is going to begin when we start to getting hold of more of the photos and videos Curiosity is going to beam back to earth.

After an eight month journey, NASA’s multi-billion dollar rover Curiosity made a successful landing on Mars early this morning. Mission controllers cheered after the six-wheeled, one-ton machine made a perilous seven-minute landing involving a parachute, rocket pack and sky crane.

Freaky, Unidentified ‘Monster’ Washes Ashore In New York City [NSFW Photos]
In July of 2008, the carcass of a bloated, chimera-like animal washed ashore in Long Island. The ‘Montauk Monster‘ terrified and fascinated the nation that summer, with zoologists eventually concluding the beast was probably a water-damaged raccoon, rather than some sort of byproduct of a top-secret experiment gone horribly wrong.
Four years later, it looks like we have another monster on our hands.
