Country singer Ronnie Dunn – one half of superduo Brooks & Dunn – talked with Taste of Country a bit last week about musicians that influenced him. Among Dunn’s more interesting recent influences: “I love Harrison’s slide guitar on ‘Something,’” the singer told Taste of Country.
Dunn has of course been impactful in his own wide-ranging way, and the wild diversity of Brooks & Dunn covers on YouTube are a pretty-great sample of his influence. Well, the field is shaping up nicely for the Texaco Country Showdown Saturday afternoon June 18th at the Sunrise Saloon. Entry deadline is Monday so we may still get more contestants on board.
I get regular e-mail updates from a Country music website called "Roughstock". What I like about the site is that they tell it like they see it. They're not afraid to tell Country radio when they think a big artist is showing little talent. That's not the case with the new Ronnie Dunn record, out today.
