On Wednesday, September 18, Shandor Badaruddin, attorney for Thomas Vineyard, asked for, and received, a continuance for an omnibus hearing with prosecutors regarding Vineyard’s upcoming trial.

“We were here for an omnibus hearing,” Badaruddin said. “The omnibus hearing was continued so that myself and the counsel for the state could discuss deadlines and schedules regarding the trial, and because of our schedules, we just couldn’t get it together.”

Badaruddin outlined the charges and possible penalties his client is facing.

“He’s charged with vehicular homicide while under the influence, as well as negligent vehicular assault resulting in serious bodily injury,” Badaruddin said. “The more serious offense carries a sentence of from one to 30 years in prison with a substantial fine, while the other count carries a sentence of from one to 10 years in prison with a serious fine, as well.”
