This is an issue that I have had for quite some time now with Carrie Underwood. It seems that her once sweet girlie voice has morphed into that of a shrieking mature woman.

Her first post American Idol songs like ‘Jesus Take the Wheel’ and ‘Just a Dream’ showcase the voice of a sweet young lady just trying to find her way in the big old world of country music. However, now that she is a seasoned vet in this world, it seems that her voice has taken on a bit of a shrill, yelling at you, telling you what to do quality.

If you don’t believe me, just listen to some of her latest songs and tell me if it doesn’t feel like you’re her ex-boyfriend’s new girlfriend and she is standing next to you, wagging her finger in your face, yelling at you about what a jerk he is.  Listen to ‘Cowboy Cassenova’ and ‘Good Girl.’

However, I’m guessing that this is no surprise to Carrie, and that she might even be proud of the fact that she has morphed into a bit of a shrieker, as I found this quote on her website for her latest song: “Carrie wails it like an Oklahoma banshee on the loose. The gal can sing, the song is tremendous and the production sizzles. Get on board.” - Robert Oermann.

I don’t know about you, but I kind of miss the old days, when her singing was a little more singing and a little less shrieking.
