Fishing and doing nice things for children with cancer. Sounds like a pretty good combination to me. The Camp Mak-A-Dream Walleye Benefit at Canyon Ferry near Helena is Saturday, August 3. The event opens with a barbecue from 5-7 the night before. This is a family-friendly event. It was founded with the idea of enjoying a day on the water and helping raise money for youth with cancer, so they can enjoy the outdoor experience that Camp Mak-A-Dream offers near Drummond. There will be cash and other prizes awarded in several categories. Entry fee is $60. $50 of that goes to the camp and the other $10 to Canyon Ferry habitat enhancement. To register and get more information, just call Carol Henckel, whose late husband Mark of Billings Gazette fame designed the event. Carol is at 406-633-2598.
