The Missoula County Coroner’s office has identified the man who died while apparently attempting to break into his neighbor’s apartment on Saturday as 51 year-old Terrance Lee Huffine of Missoula.

Missoula police reported that Huffine  lived with his roommates in a basement apartment of a home, and when Huffine tried to break into the home’s first-floor apartment, he became stuck in the window. A man who lived in the upstairs apartment called police when he thought someone was trying to break in, but then told them the man appeared to be deceased.

Missoula County Sheriff’s Department spokesman Jason Johnson, speaking for the County Coroner, said Huffine died from mechanical asphyxia, or that he suffocated while being wedged too tightly in the window.
