Booze Ban on Popular Spring Break Beach

It's that time of year for college kids, engaging in week-long parties that have less than a stellar reputation. And this is not a condemnation of spring break and the wild times that accompany it. Just making an observation on how a nasty incident has led to what some might consider drastic measures.

Drinking has been banned on parts of Panama City Beach in Bay County, Florida, through April 18. That should pretty much cover spring break season. The emergency measure was implemented after a weekend shooting injured eight people at a house party.

While it was unclear to me whether the incident had anything to do with college students and/or a spring break, I think we can still agree this was probably a smart move. Sounds like tempers were getting a bit too short for comfort.
