Last week the U.S. Forest Service used explosives to remove some hazard trees in the Pioneer Mountains. These were mountain pine beetle killed trees that were too dangerous to be removed in the conventional way. Beetle killed trees often rot from the inside and can be very dangerous to a sawyer of heavy equipment operator. You just never know what they’re going to do. So over a period of about five days an estimated 400-500 trees were removed with explosives. Watch this!
