Early this morning, July 15th, a fire broke out in a Billings funeral home causing $100,000 in damages.

"There was a fire located at Smith's Funeral Home," Deputy Billings Fire Marshal Trever Shilling said. "The fire caused major damages to the roof of the Funeral Home above the crematory furnace. Fire was caused by heat from the running crematory furnace and ignited the roof materials which started the fire."

Schilling says the fire was reported at around 12:30 am by a neighbor.

"No injuries are reported," Shilling said. "There was nobody was inside. The fire alarm system along with nearby residence notified the fire department about the fire."

The fire has been fully contained, and the building is insured.
