In February, we reported that legendary country outlaw Waylon Jennings‘ family had determined to celebrate the singer’s life and career with a new album of primarily unreleased material. This week, the release date and track listing of ‘Goin’ Down Rockin’: The Last Recordings’ was finally announced. Due out September 11, 2012, the record will feature 12 songs, 11 of which Jennings wrote.
If there’s one country gal who’s not going to stand quietly while someone makes fun of her or her people, it’s Miranda Lambert. The sassy sweetheart didn’t seem to think Ashton Kutcher’s little “performance,” nor his over-the-top country getup at Sunday night’s ACM Awards was too cute.
It’s true! ‘Beer for My Horses’ singer Toby Keith wants you to take a big ole swig of swamp water in honor of St. Patrick’s Day. No, he doesn’t want you to travel down to the Everglades and test the waters there with a straw. But he would like you to come to his restaurant I Love This Bar & Grill and try his swamp water drink — a neon green cocktail served in a Ball jar.
Trace Adkins has made his share of video and television appearances. The ‘You’re Gonna Miss This’ singer recently said that he’d like to costar in a film with fellow country talent Blake Shelton. And while we haven’t yet had the opportunity of seeing Shelton on the big screen, the Boot just released a new clip of the most recent Trace Adkins film, ‘Wyatt Earp’s Revenge,’ which you can view below.
To celebrate what would have been Johnny Cash’s 80th birthday (Feb. 26), a host of country stars are banding together to bring a great tribute show to the legendary Austin City Limits TV show. The artists will be performing live at Austin’s Moody Theatre with a special tribute show titled ‘We Walk The Line: A Celebration of the Music of Johnny Cash.’ Organizers of the show just announced today that the two newest additions to the already impressive April 20 lineup are Willie Nelson and Sheryl Crow.
It would seem that someone out in the media cosmos is randomly throwing out potential beaus for admittedly — nay, adamantly — single country sweetheart Taylor Swift, and each time they’re catching like wildfire. The teen sensation likely doesn’t have enough hours in the day to deflect all the dating rumors that have been thrown her way as of late. Every time she talks to a guy, meets him for dinner or glances up in his direction, she’s smacked with a dating question mark. And this time, her suspected match is NFL star Tim Tebow.
At the beginning of last year, news sources started reporting that Shania Twain was going the Celine Dion route and planning for a residency show on the Las Vegas strip. Now, more than a year later, the ‘Any Man of Mine’ singer is in pre-production for the show, according to CBS Las Vegas.
February 26 would have been Johnny Cash‘s 80th birthday, and while the country legend is no longer here to celebrate the occasion with his fans, those fans have come up with more than one way to honor his memory. As a part of the legendary Austin City Limits TV show, country stars Kenny Chesney, Ronnie Dunn, Kris Kristofferson, Jamey Johnson and more will be performing at Austin’s Moody Theatre to pay tribute with the ‘We Walk The Line: A Celebration of the Music of Johnny Cash’ concert.
Dwight Yoakam was slated to play the part of the villain in the upcoming film ‘The Lone Ranger,’ but he has just walked away from the role due to conflicts in his schedule. The film — which has a celebrity cast of Johnny Depp as the American Indian Tonto, Armie Hammer as the Lone Ranger and Tom Wilkinson as the evil railroad tycoon Latham Cole — will still go on without him.
After Chris Brown was given the stage for not one but two Grammy performances this year, Miranda Lambert has had no problem stepping up to let her fans know how she feels about the hip-hop artist and his past as an abuser. Not only did she tweet several times with her feelings on the matter, but Lambert finally took her anger to the stage at a show this week, as seen in the below video Taste of Country received from a fan.
