The tennis player honored, UM Senior Rebecca Bran says she plans to head back to Australia at the end of the year. Bran and her twin sister, who also plays tennis are part of the exchange program. I've taken a couple of classes with Rebecca and I can say, she is just as dedicated to her studies as she is to tennis. 

The Big Sky Conference has honored a tennis player from Montana and track and field athletes from Montana State for their efforts over the past week.

Montana senior Rebecca Bran was named the Big Sky tennis player of the week for helping Montana to a 6-1 win over rival Montana State. Bran won her matches at No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles on Tuesday.

Montana State senior David Phillips of Deer Lodge was named the men's field athlete of the week. He won hammer throw at the Al Manual Invitational in Missoula with a conference championship qualifying throw 197 feet, 9 inches. He finished second in discus with a throw of 145-8.

MSU junior Heather Haug of Livingston was named the women's track athlete of the week after winning the 1,500 meters at the Al Manual meet in 4 minutes, 26.58 seconds. She finished third in the 800 meters with a time of 2:19.44.
