The word out of Nashville is that Ashton Shepherd and her record label MCA Nashville have parted ways. She’s done two albums;” Sounds So Good” in 2008 and “Where Country Grows in 2011.” Her singles included "Takin' Off This Pain," "Sounds So Good," "Look It Up" and "Where Country Grows."

It’s hard to say why this happened.  Conventional wisdom is that she was “too country” for the current female trend. Combine that with the fact that she didn’t want to live in Nashville, choosing instead to live on the family farm in Leroy, Alabama. Ashton and her husband Roland have two children James and Raden.  Raden was born shortly after “Where Country Grows” was released. Most of the comments I've read support her and her choices.

I really like her music. She’s a great singer without a lot of digital “help.” An interesting thing I read about Ashton Shepherd is that Miranda Lambert wanted her to be a fourth “Pistol Annie.” I think that would be a great fit. I’ll keep you posted.
