The parking lot of Westside Lanes looked like the scene of an armed standoff at 10:30 a.m. today, July 24, with a fire engine, an ambulance and multiple police cars, but according to Missoula Police Public Information Officer Travis Welsh, the extra vehicles were there as a precaution as police tried to arrest 40-year-old Thomas Sisler.

"Mr. Sisler has a history of being associated with weapons and also has a history of confrontation with law enforcement and resisting arrest," said Missoula Police Public Information Officer Travis Welsh. "More officers were called in and officers retrieved the ARV or Armored Rescue Vehicle just in case Sisler tried to drive out of the parking lot or, if a weapon was produced, which fortunately did not happen."

Mr. Sisler sat in his car, talking away on his cellphone while the large police presence was kept waiting.

"Mr. Sisler told the officers that it was his intention to turn himself over to their custody, however he had some issues that he wanted to take care of first, which he was able to do for the most part on his cell phone," Welsh said. "Then he turned himself over to the officers."

Sisler was wanted on multiple misdemeanors in Missoula, mostly for not appearing in court, however, he also has a $10,000 bond, because of a warrant from Ravalli County. that includes multiple charges including criminal endangerment, eluding a peace officer, resisting arrest, obstructing a peace officer, criminal mischief, a suspended or revoked driver's license, reckless driving and criminal possession of drug paraphernalia.
