In Russia all gold medalists in the Sochi Games were awarded $120,000 and a new Mercedes GL SUV. The U.S. Olympic Committee awarded each gold medalist $25,000, silver medalists got $15,000 and bronze winners received $10,000. And yes, they all had to pay taxes on their winnings.

Switzerland does things a little differently; Dario Cologna won two gold medals in cross country skiing. His hometown gave him a pig, which he named Sochi.
