It's hard to imagine that 91-year-old Eligio Ramos had any hope left at all of ever finding his wallet. After all, he left it thousands of miles away while fighting for his country and no doubt fighting for his life.

Eligio, A World War II veteran, lost his wallet while fighting the Germans over 70 years ago. Then along comes Josef Ruckhofer, a doctor in Austria, who sees a wallet under some old wooden planks at a farmhouse that his grandfather owned. The cracked old leather wallet is filled with family photos, among other things. The good doctor is able to track down Eligio in Fresno CA by using an Army ID card.

The grateful soldier says he'll be framing everything that was in that wallet. And sending a Christmas card to  Dr. Ruckhofer every year, no doubt!     DB
