According to Fish Wildlife and Parks officials it was a pretty much average year for hunters in Region 2. The biggest numbers changes were in hunters and elk. About 2500 fewer hunters went through the three check stations (Anaconda, Bonner & Darby). The number of elk harvested was down by nine from 542 to 397, mule deer numbers dropped also from 173 to 164 and white tail deer numbers went from 554 to 536. Hunter success numbers stayed the same at 7.8 %. The number of wolves harvested went down dramatically from 12 last year to just 5 in 2012.
