I received this from the Wounded Warriors Regiment in Quantico VA. Many of you know I am a Gold Star parent of a fallen Marine. With the ornament came a brief story that I found very interesting that I wanted to share with you: "Our nation's oldest military award, the original Purple Heart, was established by General George Washington in 1782. The first modern era Purple Heart Medal was awarded in 1932 for being wounded or killed in action against an enemy of the United States. As in previous conflicts, our nation has honored the sacrifices of Marines, Sallors and their family members with the presentation of this award."....(my son Andrew's is displayed prominently in the living room bookshelves)..... "In keeping with the spirit of exceptional honor, courage and commitment, the Injured Marine Semper Fi Fund has created this ornament to express deep gratitude to the members of the Marine Corps family who have given uncompromising service and borne great sacrifice for the American people and the United State Marine Corps."

It is absolutely gorgeous! One look and I was practically moved to tears. It is with pride and deep appreciation that it will hang prominently on the Christmas tree for years and years to come. And Christmas will be just a little bit brighter because of it.  DB
