A Rescue Almost Like the Early TV Show
It kind of became part of early TV pop culture, joking about Lassie's life-saving adventures. You know: "Bark bark."
"Lassie, what is it girl?"
"Bark bark."
"Farmer Olsen fell down a well?"
"Bark bark."
"And there's rattlesnakes in there?"
"Bark bark."
"C'mon, girl, show us."
And Lassie (who was actually a male dog) would lead them to the rescue and the day was saved! Well, this is a little less dramatic, but you get the idea. And you gotta give this pooch some credit for a real (dog) life rescue.
In Orange, Massachusetts, a dog ran up to a police officer barking frantically. It was obvious that the dog wanted to be followed, so the officer was led across a field and down an icy embankment. That's where another dog (our Lassie-like hero's companion) was tangled and trapped in some undergrowth. Firefighters were able to rescue the trapped dog and their owners were found.
A quick trip to the vet revealed that all was well and we have our hero! Who gets to watch Lassie reruns all week! "Bark bark."
