You can count on me to keep you up to date with all the latest news when it comes to beer. With all the craft breweries in Missoula I found this story very interesting.

The Alaskan Brewing Company has installed a unique boiler system in order to cut costs. The furnace burns the spent grain from the brewing process. Company officials estimate the new boiler will save about $450,000 a year in fuel costs.

I don’t know what our local breweries do with their spent grain. I know one, Bayern, used to sell it to a cattle rancher.
