I’ve been craving some body-warming dinners lately thanks to the cold turn in the weather. I love to use my crockpot when it gets cold outside. There is nothing like a dinner cooked in a crockpot to warm you and your house. One of my personal favorite recipes for a cold, autumn day is chili. I have my own recipe that I have honed to perfection over the past few years. I hope you enjoy it.

Chili

1 pound ground burger or sausage of your choice, cooked

1 15 ounce can stewed tomatoes

2-3 15 ounce cans tomato sauce

1 15 ounce can corn

2 15 ounce cans beans of your choice (I prefer black beans or kidney beans.)

2-3 tablespoons chili powder

2-3 cloves garlic minced

1 medium onion diced

1 tablespoon brown sugar

Mix all of the ingredients in a crockpot and set on low to simmer for hours, or you can make it in a pot and let it simmer on the stove too. You want to let it simmer for at least two hours, but you can let it simmer much longer. The longer you let it simmer, the better it will taste because this allows the flavors to really saturate the chili. One great thing about this recipe is that nothing is raw, so even if you wanted to just mix all the ingredients and then warm the chili in the microwave, you could.
