It is always sad to lose a personal item that is very precious to you. And pretty cool when it turns up in the weirdest of ways.

AP let us know about a woman in Alberta, Canada, who lost her engagement ring 13 years ago. Mary Grams is  84 years old now, so let's just say was remarrying a little late in life, engagement ring or not. And if she'd realized she'd lost it while gardening, we probably wouldn't be talking about this crazy horticultural happening.

Mary and her daughter-in-law were doing some gardening, digging up the carrots, when they uncovered a carrot that had actually grown around and through her engagement ring. This happened on a farm that had been in the family for over 100 years. And even though Mary lost her husband five years ago (she never told him about losing it, by the way), she is wearing it proudly now and can't believe the carrot-karat miracle.
