Corvallis, Oregon: You got it goin' on! Who could miss a bright orange pile in the park? At least that was the strategy last weekend in a popular wooded trail area, and boy did it produce the piles!

Volunteers were picking up orange poo along the trails in Oregon's McDonald Forest. The poop had been painted orange ahead of time, making it easier to spot. The project is a partnership between the Oregon State University College of Forestry and local veterinarians, trying to call attention to just how much doggie doo there is out in the woods on those hiking trails.

And how much did the poo crew collect, you ask? Only about half-a-ton!!! That is a lot of orange paint. And it obviously helps illustrate their point that dog owners need to do a better job of cleaning up after their pets. I'm sure lots of trail users in western Montana can relate to that, right? Gets pretty skanky out there sometimes.  DB
