Finding housing in any place can be tough, and Missoula is no exception. Whether you’re moving to town for the first time or just looking for an upgrade, it’s hard to know where to begin your search. But armed with a few pointers and the right resources, you’ll be unloading that U-Haul in no time. Here’s a list of five places to start looking for your dream apartment.

    Craigslist

In addition to classified ads posted by individual landlords, the housing section on the Missoula Craigslist page often includes listings from local property management companies. And unlike traditional newspaper classifieds, many online ads include photos. (So you won’t waste your time visiting a “vintage” apartment that is actually “old and dilapidated.”)

    ASUM Off-Campus Renter Center

This organization offers tons of resources to UM students who are looking to rent a place off campus. But, you don’t have to be enrolled at the university to take advantage of the Renter Center’s online housing finder, which allows you to search listings based on specific criteria such as price, number of rooms, location and pet policy.

    Missoulian.com

Many of the ads found in the Missoulian’s online classifieds are not on Craigslist, and some include email and web links. It doesn’t take much time to scroll through the listings, and it’s worth checking in case you find a screaming deal.
