Have you ever fallen asleep at work? If you haven’t, I’m sure there have been days that you wanted to. Days when it seemed it took all your strength and stamina just to keep your eyes open? One German bank teller gave in to his sleep craving and nodded off during work.

You might be thinking that this is no big deal. After all, numerous employees are caught sleeping on the job every day. The worst that seems to come out of it is an unknowingly paid for nap by the employer. However, this particular employee’s nap had a tad bit more severe consequence.

It seems that this bank teller nodded off mid money transfer and accidentally ended up making someone $295 million richer. That, I must say, is one expensive nap.

It seems that this exhausted bank employee laid his head down on his keyboard, and in doing so, accidentally turned a $82.80 transaction into a $295 million transaction.

The supervisor of said teller failed to notice the egregious error and allowed the transaction to be completed. The supervisor was fired when the error was discovered.

I find it curious that the teller was fired or not. How is it possible that the supervisor would be fired but the employee not? If it wasn’t bad enough that the employee accidentally transferred millions of dollars on accident, the employee made the error because he fell asleep at work.

I don’t know about you, but I have never seen a bank teller work the graveyard shift, so I’m not exactly sure how a teller would fall asleep during the middle of the day, with his or her head on his or her keyboard and nobody notice.

I guess the next time you’re at work and having a hard time staying awake, take comfort in knowing that you’re not alone. However, make sure that whatever you have to lose is worth the price of your nap.
