45 year-old Samuel Big Hair appeared in Missoula Justice Court via video from the county jail on Tuesday afternoon on felony and misdemeanor drug charges.

According to court documents, an unidentified person called 9-1-1 early Tuesday morning to report suspicious activity inside a vehicle in the parking lot of Maui Nites Casino on Brooks Street. When Missoula City Police officers arrived, they arrested Big Hair on a felony charge of criminal possession of dangerous drugs, and other misdemeanors. It was also discovered that Big Hair was on probation and wanted on two warrants out of municipal court, and he was taken into custody.

During his court appearance, Missoula Deputy County Attorney Brittany Santorno asked Judge Marie Anderson for $15,000 bail.

"The defendant is a probationer with a long felony criminal history," Santorno said. "He was convicted for drug distribution in 2000 out of Big Horn County and he served 10 years in Montana State Prison with eight suspended. He has numerous other convictions, in addition to being on felony probation. The defendant just told the court he does not have an address or phone number, so I would say he poses a flight risk, as well."

Judge Anderson agreed, and set bail at $15,000 to run consecutively with his probation hold. Big Hair was returned to the jail and will appear again on September 17.
